Years ago I created a little mini documentary about a plein air trip to Italy I went on with Daniel Keys, Michelle Dunaway, and Richie Carter. Considering the amount of time I put into making these … I feel the videos didn’t get as many views as I would have liked. Perhaps they’re not that interesting to people, or maybe they suck. Whatever the case, they’re still interesting to me and I’m glad that I made them. There’s some good art instruction and inspiration in em. And personally, they’re a little window back to a truly wonderful time of my life. Hope you’ll give em a watch.
This one, from years ago, fully embodies the everything I miss about Montana Gallery. Enjoying each other’s friendship, learning from one another, making jokes, having meals together, and enjoying the beauty of Montana.
But for those wanting to up their plein air game, this truly does have some great instruction. I’m amazed watching it again to see Pete learn in real time how to see and identify more accurately the scene in front of him. He comes out with a pretty descent painting in the end.
Enjoy!
And lastly, here’s a podcast interview I did last summer with Mark McKenna…
(The title on the thumbnail makes me laugh … uhh … not quite sure I’ve “made it” but then again I’m not sure what that would even mean! Nevertheless, it was a fun experience. Thanks Mark!)
